Ulix for Education

Teach real-world bookkeeping with the software students will use.

Students keep the books of a practice company in real double-entry accounting software, week by week. Free for verified students and faculty.

  • Free for students and faculty
  • Ready-made course and answer keys
  • An AI tutor, not an answer machine

For students

Practice on real books, not a worksheet.

Each student runs Harbor Street Goods LLC, a small retail business, from its first day: setup, sales, purchases, the bank, the close. Later they add a second company, Harbor Street Rentals LLC.

  • Free while enrolled in your class
  • Two practice companies with real-looking bank feeds, receipts and statements
  • The same software businesses and accounting firms use
The AI tutor

It explains. It never does the bookkeeping.

Students can ask why a payment clears A/R or what a reconciling item is. The tutor answers the question, but it never creates, suggests or posts an entry. Professors can turn it off.

For professors

Less grading. More teaching.

You hold the class account. Every student sits under it, and you can see, help and mark all of them from one place.

A class account with a join code

You hold the class. Students join it with your code, and their practice companies sit under it.

Roster with progress

See who has joined, how far each student is, and who is falling behind.

Open any student’s company

Look at exactly what a student sees, with their books as they left them.

Help mode

Fix something with a student, and every change is labeled “made by your professor”.

Automated marking

Each practice set is marked against its answer key, with a class grid, partial credit and your overrides.

Reset to any week

Put a student’s company back to the start of any week, so a bad week never sinks the term.

Review assistant

A summary of the mistakes the class made most, so you know what to re-teach.

Slides and a professor guide

A deck for every week, lab notes, written questions and the answers to every planted problem.

Look-alike flag

Submissions that look copied from each other are flagged for you to review.

Questions

Good to know.

What does it cost?

Nothing for verified students and faculty. No card is asked for, and your school is never billed.

What is included?

A class account for you, practice companies for every student (Harbor Street Goods LLC and Harbor Street Rentals LLC), the full Ulix software, the 7-week module or 14-week course with practice sets, answer keys and automated marking, weekly slides, a professor guide, and the AI tutor.

Can I export grades?

Yes. The class marking grid downloads as a spreadsheet (CSV) you can bring into your gradebook or learning management system.

How long does access last?

A class account lasts 12 months and is renewable for as long as you teach with Ulix. Students have free access while they are enrolled in your class.

Does the AI do the homework?

No. The student AI is a tutor: it explains concepts and answers questions, but it never creates, suggests or posts entries. You can turn it off for your class.

What happens after graduation?

Free student access ends when the student is no longer enrolled. Graduates can open their own Ulix account and keep using the software they learned on.

How do students prove they are students?

They join with your class code. The code is tied to your verified class account, so only your students get in.
