Tag. Your own way to slice the books, such as a program, grant, department or funding source. A company can have as many tags as it needs. See Tag lines by program, grant, department and more.
Tag value. One choice of a tag, such as *Youth* for Program. Values can sit under other values (*Youth › Summer camp*). A report on a value includes the values under it.
Built-in tags. Cost center (location, department or class) and Project. They work like your own tags in reports and rules, and you manage them on their own pages.
Required tag. A rule that says every line on an income or expense account must carry a tag. A line without it is not saved.
No … (untagged). Lines that do not carry a tag show under *No program*, *No department* and so on. That way a report by tag always adds up to the full report.
Cross-tab. A table of one tag's values against another's, such as Program × Department. Its grand total is the net income for the same dates.
Archived. Hidden from forms but kept on every line and in every report. A tag or value that was used is archived rather than deleted.
